LBFTA Visited Immigration Office, Talk about Strengthening Inter-Agency Collaboration

Labuan Bajo, January 22, 2026 — The Labuan Bajo Flores Tourism Authority (LBFTA) conducted a formal visit and coordination meeting with the Class II TPI Labuan Bajo Immigration Office as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen cross-sector collaboration in supporting sustainable tourism development in Labuan Bajo.

The visit aimed to enhance synergy between institutions that play a strategic role in managing tourist arrivals and ensuring a positive visitor experience at Indonesia’s Super Priority Destination.

During the meeting, Andhy MT Marpaung, Acting President Director of LBFTA, expressed his appreciation to the Immigration Office for the consistent presence of the Head of Immigration and team in the Weekend at Parapuar (WAP) program.

“BPOLBF highly appreciates the active involvement of the Immigration Office in public tourism activities, as well as the sharing of real-time tourism data, which is essential for data-driven policy and destination management,” he stated.

He also emphasized the importance of holding further discussions with Travel Agents and Tour Operators to compile a list of officially registered members, which could serve as a reliable reference for tourists in choosing credible and certified tourism service providers.

Meanwhile, Charles Christian Mathaus, Head of the Class II TPI Labuan Bajo Immigration Office, highlighted several collaborative opportunities to further promote Labuan Bajo as a world-class destination.

He noted that Labuan Bajo has strong potential to be developed through co-branding initiatives, including joint trips or camping activities involving influencers and Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs) to strengthen destination storytelling and promotion.

In addition, he proposed collaboration in delivering “dos and don’ts” information for tourists at arrival gates, ensuring visitors are well-informed about local culture, ethics, and regulations upon entering the destination.

Another key point discussed was the potential development of a joint hotline command center, which would allow tourist complaints or inquiries to be handled more efficiently through an integrated communication channel.

Furthermore, the Immigration Office highlighted the importance of translating “dos and don’ts” materials into foreign languages, such as Mandarin and Japanese, to better serve international visitors.

This official visit reflects LBFTA’s commitment to fostering strong inter-agency cooperation to support integrated, data-driven, and visitor-oriented tourism management in Labuan Bajo. Through collaboration with key stakeholders, LBFTA continues to strengthen Labuan Bajo’s position as a sustainable and globally competitive tourism destination.
